CLUB HISTORY

Winnie Jenkins was a typist in the Crewe 1st District Tax Office, and a member of the Chester Rambling Club. She broke away from the Chester Rambling Club and got some colleagues in the Crewe Tax Office interested in rambling. On 13th October 1946, the Crewe C.H.A and H F Rambling Club held it’s first walk - a 10 miler at World’s End, Llangollen at a cost of 5s 6d per person for the coach travel. This cost is equivalent to £8.50 at 2009 prices!

An official formation meeting was held on 6th November 1946 at Newland, Park Drive, Wistaston. When 9 club rules were drawn up and the following committee was elected.
