Winnie Jenkins was a typist in the Crewe 1st District Tax Office, and a member of the Chester Rambling Club. She broke away from the Chester Rambling Club and got some colleagues in the Crewe Tax Office interested in rambling, and so in October 1946, the Crewe C.H.A and H F Rambling Club was formed.
It was a young and energetic group, its members experienced many enjoyable times on its' fortnightly walks and varied social events. The club thrived through the ages and became the successsful club that it is today, almost 60 years on.
